The best time to get your bike serviced is usually now! The next best time to get your bike serviced is in winter. Fortunately for you, both currently apply. Here’s why…
Most of us ride a bit less in winter. Most of us, not all of us! But when you’re taking a few days off riding during the cold months, that’s a good time to book your bike in for either a minor service or a major service. If you aren’t sure which, chat to the Lynnwood Cyclery workshop staff and they will be able to advise you. We also have a Pro Service and an Ultimate Service option for those who really love their bikes!
Because Lynnwood Cyclery keeps a record of your bike’s servicing history, our staff are able to call that up and see just how long it’s been since your last service, or exactly what was done to your bike – and when.
You will be surprised how time flies when you’re having fun on your bike! Ask most mountain bikers, gravel riders and roadies when their bike was last serviced and most will underestimate the time that has passed. If you have more than one bike, you will have even more difficulty remembering each bike’s last workshop visit…
All moving parts wear on a bike. Most wear slowly and the performance diminishes so gradually that you hardly notice it. Well, you just also adapt to the gradual wear and before you know it, your brake pads are ground down to the metal or your chain is past 75% worn. Riding in wet weather accelerates wear on parts too and we had a very wet summer and autumn this year!
It's a good idea to get into the habit of having your bike – or bikes if you have more than one – serviced every winter. Because of this, Lynnwood Cyclery runs a Service Bump Up Promotion every winter. Book your bike in for a Minor Service and get a Major Service for the same price. The Bump Up promotion applies to all our service levels and obviously excludes the price of parts that need replacing.
This year we are also giving a free coffee from our CoffeeWorks kiosk when you collect your bike after it’s Bumped-Up Service!
